📜 A mindset constriction
There’s a line from Geoffrey Huntley’s Nobody should type code by hand anymore. Here’s what’s left. that has stuck with me:
It was a mindset constriction, not a model constriction.
~ Josh Wulf
Today I came across Reverse Engineer Anything (REA), and it blew my mind. Then I found ArtCraft, an effort to build open-source alternatives to familiar creative and productivity software on GitHub. And a recent report from Kotaku described AI-assisted projects bringing older video games into the browser with surprisingly impressive results.
Different projects, different motivations. Some challenge subscription models and give people more control over their tools. Others are driven by curiosity, experimentation, and the sheer fun of asking, “What if?”
AI can help us do the same things faster. But the bigger opportunity is to rethink what we are building, what makes it valuable, and which constraints we accepted simply because they were always there until now.
